Description

Primary Health Medical Group is seeking a full time Risk Adjustment Coding Specialist to use clinical skills for reviewing and abstracting data from medical records, patient medical history and physical exams, physician orders, progress notes, consultation reports, and diagnostic reports to identify all appropriate ICD codes where assigned to the highest level per documentation; provide education to providers through ongoing training; maintain coding standards to ensure a unified coding compliance system; and help ensure adherence to the principles of ICD guidelines.

The Risk Adjustment Coding Specialist must possess advanced understanding of medical terminology, pharmacology, body systems/anatomy, physiology and concepts of disease processes. Knowledge of electronic health records systems and Microsoft Office software programs extremely helpful (to include Word, and Excel). Familiarity and understanding of CMS HCC Risk Adjustment coding is preferred but not required.

Status: Full time, 40 hours per week

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm

Qualifications
  • LPN or MA License, Bachelor’s Degree in Health Information Management, or equivalent education and experience
  • Certified Professional coder or RHIT Certification preferred
  • 3 years of ICD coding preferred
  • 2 years patient care experience preferred
  • Experience providing physician education in one-on-one and group settings
  • Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills and organizational skills
  • Ability to travel to any PHMG clinic or other location with a 50 mile radius.
  • The position will also require the ability to train/teach providers and staff in an effective manner.
