Your Day.

As an ENT Surgery Scheduler, you need to know how to:
 

  • Coordinate and schedule ENT surgeries
  • Schedule any related pre-operative and post-operative appointments
  • Effectively collaborate and provide timely communication with surgeons and providers 
  • Confidently communicate with surgery centers and hospitals, resolving any issues and relaying any concerns to the surgeons and providers
  • Be comfortable communicating all procedure-related requirements and instructions to the patient and their families, including insurance approvals and medical clearances
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients and their families, building relationships to offer support through the entire process
  • Verify insurance coverage, accuracy of procedure codes, and network coverage for surgery centers
  • Submit prior authorizations, manage denials, and communicate with supporting documentation
  • Scrub and maintain the ENT surgery schedule
  • Code surgical and hospital procedures using ICD-10 and CPT guidelines
  • Ensure proper coordination for operating room resources
  • Maintain accurate records 
  • Respond to scheduling inquiries
  • Assist the ENT Surgical Admin Assistant with prior authorizations as needed
  • Submit prior authorizations for urgent imaging in the absence of the Referral Coordinator and ENT Surgical Admin Assistant, verifying CPT codes for images ordered
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding patient and business functions of the organization, i.e., HIPAA
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in medical scheduling, preferably in a medical or hospital setting
  • Experience with referrals, prior authorizations, and billing insurance components (ICD-10 coding and CPT codes) preferred
  • Customer service-oriented attitude/behavior
  • Computer proficiency is required, and the ability to use applicable software as required, performing the essential functions of the job
  • Vaccines to include annual Influenza, Hep B, TDaP, and TB.
